Abstract | Students will learn about biochemical approaches to purification and functional analysis of proteins. The course consists of practical projects in small groups, lectures and literature seminars. The course concludes with the presentation of results.
Objective | Students will learn to design, carry out and assess basic biochemical approaches and strategies to analyze protein function. In detail, they will obtain an overview over the large range of biochemical approaches to protein function and learn to choose appropriate strategies. They will learn basic technical skills in protein biochemistry and get an idea about ways to reconstitute cellular processes in vitro. Furthermore, they will learn to assess strengths and limitations of biochemical approaches and be able to discuss the validity of their findings for cellular functions.
Literature | Documentation and recommended literature (review articles and selected primary literature) will be provided during the course.
Prerequisites / Notice | This course will be taught in English. |
